Telegram has now made it official, a few weeks after first hinting at a premium tier. As anticipated, Telegram Premium offers more features for $4.99 per month, including increased upload and download speeds and unique stickers.
In Telegram’s blog post, all of these premium features—including the option to upload 4GB files instead of the usual 2GB—are highlighted. Additionally, the limits placed on normal users will be doubled for premium users. For instance, paying users will be able to save 400 GIFs instead of 200, pin up to 10 chats instead of 5, and join up to 1000 groups and channels instead of 500.
Additionally, similar to Discord and Steam, you can have a folder of premium stickers with full-screen animations, premium emoji replies, and animated profile photographs. If you don’t have headphones, Telegram Premium will also allow you to convert voice messages into text. Additionally, you can modify your default chat folder and get rid of sponsored messages in open channels.
In addition to being able to access paid services like downloading larger files shared by subscribers and using their special emojis through quoted answers, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov guarantees users that free functionality will stay free.
Although Telegram Premium is not currently accessible to everyone, it will likely do so shortly.
