SHOULD MY HEATER BE IN BYPASS DURING WINTER?

Totally! If you are not utilising your swimming pool heater during the wintertime or if you have to super chlorinate your pool, we recommend placing the solar pool heating or heat pump in bypass to prevent water from flowing through the system. Water flowing through an offline heat pump or gas heater may corrode the heating element, leading to the heater’s failure.

DO I NEED A POOL COVER OR BLANKET?

Pool coverings are an excellent method to prevent water evaporation and save on heating expenses. They are not needed but can save you money in heating costs.

HOW DOES THE HEATER WORK?

Electric heat pumps function by pumping heat from outside air into water until the necessary temperature is attained during a refrigeration cycle. It does not need a great deal of energy and really requires a great deal less than its gas cousin. As the pool nears the target temperature, the heat pump begins to consume less power, so saving you money.

DOES MY POOL HEATER NEED SERVICING?

We suggest yearly maintenance performed by a certified technician. Pool Heating Systems offers both yearly maintenance and emergency repairs. Contact us immediately to be added to our yearly maintenance list, and a member of our office staff will contact you annually when maintenance is needed.

MY HEATER MAY HEAT AND COOL MY POOL, RIGHT?

Not all heaters have cooling capabilities. To chill the water in your pool, the heater will extract heat from the water and release it into the air. Similar to a reverse cycle air conditioning unit. Our solar pool heating systems can cool your pool at night but heat pumps are rarely sold with this feature.

HOW EXPENSIVE ARE HEATERS TO RUN?

Solar pool heating is only a couple of hundred to run for 8 months. They are the most cost effective way to heat your pool.

Our complete inverter heat pumps use up to 80% less energy than conventional heat pumps and are more cost-effective than gas heaters.

IS A SEPARATE PUMP REQUIRED FOR THE POOL HEATER?

Yes for a solar pool heating system as it will increase pressure on your filtration system. On the other hand heat pumps are different. The electric heater may use the same piping as the pool pump. This controller instructs the pump when to activate in order to maintain the predetermined temperature of the heater.

WHAT SIZE HEATER DO I REQUIRE?

The size of the heater relies on many factors:

Season extender (just September through April) or year-round heating.

Indoor or outdoor pool

Surface area of the swimming pool

Employing a pool cover?

Contact the office to determine which heater size will meet your requirements.
